Why zipperless

A zip can be forced open and re-closed without leaving a mark; a frame closure cannot. It is also the part that fails first on an overpacked case, and there isn't one here to burst. The trade is weight — the frame and clips put this at 4.3kg, about a kilo more than a zipped case of the same size.

On the weight limit

Most airlines set a checked bag at 23kg and refuse a single piece over 32kg. At 4.3kg empty, budget for around 18.7kg of contents on a standard ticket. Check your own allowance before you fly, as it varies by carrier and fare.
